    The Museum of the Moving Image was once a famous film studio for silent films. Today, it is one of the only film museums of its kind, located in Queens, New York. The museum offers an interesting look at film and television history through old, archive footage and antique equipment. The museum also includes cutting-edge exhibitions on technology.

  • Vincent van Gogh Film Adaptation

    Renowned for his paintings, Vincent van Gogh also understood the power of language. He once stated, “It is not the language of painters, but the language of nature which one should listen to.” Delving into the creative palette of language, ESN students recently put vocabulary into motion through a collaborative project. Students read the biography of Vincent van Gogh in their Reading & Vocabulary textbook, and then brought the pages to life through a film adaptation.

  • A Q&A With The ESL School at NYFA Alumnus and NYFA Filmmaking Student Helder Gomes

    As an institution that celebrates a diverse and international student community, The ESL School at NYFA (ESN) is proud to be a part of helping international students pursue their dreams. For many of our students, learning English is the first step towards achieving an incredible goal, whether that goal is to go on to study the arts at NYFA or to take their new English skills straight to work.

    For ESN alumnus Helder Gomes, the goal is to become a great film director. After successfully completing our 12-Week Level 5 Program at ESN, Helder continued to chase his dreams of becoming a filmmaker by enrolling in the New York Film Academy’s 1-Year Filmmaking Program. Now, he’s more inspired than ever to follow his dreams.
