Exam Coming Up? Check Out These Helpful Tips!

When we hear the word “exam,” it usually produces a visceral feeling of stress: your pulse races, you feel like you are going to faint, and you have forgotten everything. Relax! The ESL School at NYFA has some helpful tips to help you get ready for that exam.

An exam is a great way to find out what your strengths and weaknesses are. If you follow these tips, you might actually feel excited the next time your instructor tells you, “We have a test this week.”

 

Vocabulary

effectively (adv.)- done in a way to achieve the best result

visceral (adj.)- physical feeling

pulse (n.)- the thump produced by blood pumping through your body

faint (v.)- pass out/black out and fall to the floor

cram (v.)- study intensely shortly before an exam
